So what will 2008 Acura MDX future car will have in offering. Well, speculations are already high with Acura fans for this future car. The new 2008 Acura MDX will for sure have super handling all wheel drive with a V-6 engine. There will not be a lot of changes but long awaited changes like HID headlight, LED Taillights and 20 inch 5 spoke alloy wheels could not be ruled out.

The car first got full public view at 2006 New York Auto Show. The current model preliminary pictures are already available with the dealers but with very minor details. 2008 Acura MDX is likely to resemble Acura RDX in a big way. The wheels of the car look a bit bigger in the new version.

Rear doors of the car also look bigger which is going to give a better access to the people at 3rd row. Though V6 engine is going to be there in the car, in my opinion V8 would have been better as most of the cars in this category have them.

Other important features include large-diameter brake rotors, calipers, a performance exhaust system, GM-designed 19-inch aluminum wheels up front, and 20-inchers in back that is mounted with low-profile BF Goodrich performance tires. Chevrolet HHR Concept where there will be 2 doors in place of 4 doors as present in the production model of Chevrolet HHR which will stretch the car by 6 inches.

Gas electric hybrid has not been used with its full potential and questions are being raised at its success. Plug in recharging and diesel engines are making news these days with their greater fuel saving and higher mileage capability. A hybrid car costs $3000 more then a conventional car where as a diesel hybrid cars cost $4600 more then a conventional car. With these figures it does not seems that diesel cars could make a commercial success in recent times.

Gasoline hybrid cars use gasoline and electric power by which it gives better fuel economy and less emission. Now replace gasoline with diesel and the same car becomes diesel hybrid car. Companies like Daimler Chrysler has its version of diesel hybrid car Ram pickup in the market and is going to introduce another namely Sprinter vans. GM also sells diesel hybrid systems for buses. Golf from Volkswagen is also under production. Opel Astra diesel version made by GM is claimed to give 59 mpg.

With so many automakers, going for diesel hybrid cars it seems unlikely that they might have missed its market viability. I am sure in coming years diesel hybrid cars, fuel cell cars, and gasoline hybrid cars will go neck to neck. Oh! I forgot hydrogen cars.

Due to heavy sales last year where GM made sales record, the sales were bit down this year. But overall GM is happy with its sales and according to Mark LaNeve vice president GM North America Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing, "We are pleased with the momentum and enthusiasm for our new models,"

Pontiac G6, Chevrolet Buick LaCrosse and Cobalt were the 3 most successful models. Cobalt made a new sales benchmark with 23,000 deliveries last month. Other trucks such as Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Canyon also made record sales.

Sales for cars increased by 20% for Chevrolet in April. Cobalt sales jumped to over 59% as compared to March. Equinox achieved a sales figure of more then 10,000 vehicles which is 76% up compared to previous month sales.

Hybrid cars are a craze today and are going towards a big commercial success, but it too had a long journey, which started in 1897. In this year, the first attempt was made to combine internal combustion engine with electric power.

After 13 years, an attempt was made by Pieper to make a true hybrid car. He developed 3.5 hp voiturette in which he used a small gasoline engine in conjunction to a electric motor. The car while running used electric motor used, acted as a generator to recharge the battery, but while climbing steep roads, battery power was used to assist the gas engine to give it a boost. The same technology in advanced form is used in Honda hybrid cars as IMA system.

Another try cam from Jacob Lohner, Porsche. He developed a car where two electric motors were used which used to run the two front wheels. But the cars made by these people have a major drawback, which did not allowed it to become commercial success. The batteries used in the cars were very heavy and the battery used was able to store only a small amount of energy.

Europe has a wide presence of small and fuel efficient cars. Audi, BMW and a host of other car makers are planning to launch their smaller car models in the land of suv and fast cars US.

Due to the high and soaring price of gas which is more then $2, hybrid cars as Prius is a breeze. But Car like prius gives 44 miles per gallon where as smaller cars in Europe gives a respectable 70 miles per gallon.

Among the smaller cars in Europe smart FourTwo is the smallest sold in Europe and Canada. The length of the car is mere 98.2 inches from one bumper to other. Its size could not be compared with any American car and one of the smaller car in US i.e BMW Mini Cooper is 4 feet larger then FourTwo. Smart FourTwo give 70 MPEG mileage. The other fuel efficient car manufacturers are Renault, Daihatsu, Skoda (Czech Republic), Tata (India) and Peugeot. The major problems with these cars including Smart FourTwo is that they are all Diesel and diesel powered cars are a complete no no in US.

The Volvo YCC is the first concept car build only by women team was displayed in London recently. The women behind this car is deputy technical project manager Lena Ekelund who is working in Volvo since 1986 and also includes exterior designer Anna Rosen.

According to a survey from Volvo Female dominates in the decision making to buy a car as much as 80%. Due to it Volvo went forward with its all-female design team to make car for women and show "What Women Wants".

"Convenience. And that actually is something that both genders are looking for, but women at a higher extent than men in a car that you can actually sit and reach at the same time," said Lena Ekelund from Volvo Cars.

The major features to help women drivers are adjustable pedals for driver with shorter height and rest bars for women who wear high heels.

Volvo states that " if you meet the expectation of women, you will more than exceed the expectation of men".

Chrysler, Ford Recall Over 1 Million Vehicles

DaimlerChrysler is going to recall 600,000 dodge duranga sport utility vehicles with Dodge Dakota pickup trucks because of their safety concerns.

Similarly Ford motor co. is also going to recall 474,000 Escape and Mazda Tribute SUVs.

Chrysler said that front suspension upper ball joints on some vehicles may be subject to corrosion and progressive wear. In extreme scenerios the problem due to corrosion could end up in seperation of front suspension.

However their is no case of injury so far. The company mentioned that it is going to replace the front suspension upper ball joints on cars and owners need not to pay anything for that.

Chrysler new engine is being made in collobaration with Hyundai Motor Co. Ltd. and Japan's Mitsubishi Motors Corp. DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler division claims that it is going to save $100 million every year on its production cost once these engines will be ready. Chrysler new jointly developed will be more cleaner, advanced and powerful as claimed by company.

They are expected to make over 2 million engines under Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance. It is one of largest engine making program ever attempted. Hyundai is already replacing the engines of Sonata cars with the latest developed engine. Eric Ridenour, Chrysler's executive president for product development, said the new engine is about 5 percent more fuel-efficient than Chrysler's current four-cylinder.
